There is a big room for improvements, and I truly appreciate the honesty of the creator cause he did mention that the body part may get obliterated. But the problem is that this happened to me right off the bat, and using the Replace blend as suggested by the creator did not solve the problem, I had to use Subtract and work my way in reverse to get an animation done. I can't give it less than 4 cause this addon is a true breakthrough, but 4 star is a fair rating IMO.

Hi Abedd, thanks for the honest review. There was indeed a scale issue / bug when changing the action of the base / replace layer in all the last versions. Please check the current update - V1.67 It should be now solved. If you still run into issues, then feel free to let me know.
I will hopefully also try to implement cgcookie's auto update module as soon as I have a chance, so you can all keep getting updated.

This is a brilliant addon, I just couldn't find my way with the NLA and it did a lot of things "unexpectedly". Now I can work on animations in more focused chunks keeping it all more organized and easier to follow. The developer was super helpful when I found some things that didn't work right for me which I think were related more to my particular file than normal bugs but he's worked through them and resolved the issues - can't say fairer than that.

    This looks awesome addon,
But I had to give up adapting this addon to my workflow.

Almost of actions that I made have tons of keyframes of constraints settings.
In addition, my rig has many custom properties made in addon that I made.
Maybe these are causing the problem. When I turn on the Animation layers, and add action that I made, my character get something like scale problem. Yes. my character puffs up like a balloon.

To use Animation Layers, I have to abandon my workflow that I was making, and I have to remake my animations. This makes me painful.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that. If you add actions that were not originally created in an additive layer then you need to change the layer's blendmode to "Replace". The character explodes because the scale is also being added on top of the previous layers. If you still want to use it as an additive layer then you could also try to delete the scale keyframes from the additive layer

Something that should've been in Blender from the start but at least it's finally here!

I come from Maya and this makes my pipeline more confortable in Blender. I just tested it a couple of times but works very well !! Simple to use, I do recommend it!

Sometimes random animations are deleted entirely from the layers. I have no idea whats causing this but its frustrating animating a lot on these layers only for you to click and all of a sudden your animation is completely gone. When it works it works great but this glitch is far too massive for me. Not sure if it's this plugin or other plugins but this happens every time I use them on occasion and this has been in different scenes every time.

Hi, I'm really sorry to hear about this. I didn't hear or ran into this issue so far. Did you check if the animations still exist in the action editor? If this happens, you can normally reload them from the addon's panel or the action editor. Can you provide me with information such as the addon's version you were using and also your Blender version, and what other addon's were you using? If you have a sample file that I could test, then it would be the most helpful.

If you've ever used (and therefore struggled) with the NLA editor, get this addon. I'd give it 10 if I could. At first I was cautious adapting a scene I'd used the NLA for, but in the end you can just add animation layers, and add your existing actions easily to them. I just had to set some to 'combine' mode. This is now in my top addons of all time.
