Retime: An Animation Scale That Doesnt Suck
"Does it work with Grease Pencil Frames?"
- Soon. Valve Soon™.
"Does it work with Blender 3.0?"
- Yes. If it doesn't work on a stable version of Blender, that's a bug.
"Does it work with the nightly/alpha/beta version of Blender?"
- Probably! Though it's only practical for me to commit to compatibility with stable releases of Blender.
"Does it work for non-bone keyframes?"
- Yes!
"Does it work with multiple objects selected?"
- Yes!
"Does it have keyboard input?"
- Yes! Mouse, numerical input, and arrow keys are supported!
"Does it work with markers?"
- Yes, whether you are retiming markers or keyframes, retiming will edit the markers and keyframes within the Dopesheet or Graph Editor.
"Does it work with the NLA editor?"
- That depends what you mean! Currently:
- Retiming the current tweaked NLA strip's keyframes within the Action Editor will change the strip's length, as expected.
- Retiming whole strips within the NLA editor is not currently implemented.
- Retiming markers only affects the current tweaked NLA strip, not all the strips within the markers' range. I'm undecided as to whether this is intuitive behavior or not.
- Retiming the current tweaked NLA strip's keyframes within the Action Editor will change the strip's length, as expected.
- If you have ideas on how this feature should be further developed, let me know.
"Where is the realtime preview, like the builtin blender operators?"
- I spent a few months on that actually. With nontrivial animations, Python is too slow, and using the Blender builtins API is *really* iffy. A solution may yet be found.
"Why doesn't the scale operator work like this?"
- I whisper this to my Ton Roosendaal shrine every morning.
