The Complete Game Character Tutorial Series

by Ironbark Games Studio in Training

Tutorial Content

  • 9+ hours of 1080p 60fps video content
  • 16 PDF tutorial notes detailing the step by step process (totally 234 pages)
  • Blender files, concept images and templates, Substance Painter files and texture alphas.

This is a step-by-step process aimed at a beginner level. You should at least be comfortable navigating the 3D viewport before starting.
Intermediate Blender users will also benefit if you're new to character creation or don't know specific areas of the workflow.
Each video details every step of the process with narration. Some repetitive steps are sped up in the video, however the whole process is still shown (i.e. nothing important has been cut out).
The tutorial notes are really handy and have numbered bullet points with descriptions of shortcuts or buttons pressed, along with numbered screenshots. (I try my best to use the screencast keys and say what I'm pressing, but if anything is missed, it's in the notes!)
The tutorial notes contain additional theory and a rough guide as to how long each part of the development process will take for you. Everyone is different though and it may take you more or less time to complete a part.

The Unity and Unreal game engines are briefly used. The emphasis is on setting good export settings so your characters work as well as possibly in these applications. This is not a tutorial series which covers either in depth.
