Volumetric Light & Smoke Effects Pack

by Inlet in Render Setups

Volumetrics in Blender have always been a consuming process that would lead to choppy previews and huge render times. Learning from how games did it best in the past, it's time to unearth the hidden potential and create similarĀ results with volumetrics that do the job fast, right and better.

Pack includes

  • 19 customizable light presets
  • customizable smoke & dust & fog effects

Compatibility

  • Blender 2.83-3.1
  • Eevee & Cycles

This volumetric pack contains an array of different-styled lights that you can use to populate your scenes, without the hassle of ramping up the Blender render settings. There are many variations you can adjust in regards to intensity, size, direction and so on, giving you unlimited opportunities.

Your light can spread up to 360 degrees. You can set a custom radius and intensity, as well as color and pattern. You can add your available gobo textures and enjoy the different outcomes.

Since these are 2D planes, hardware resources needed for rendering and previews are reduced, giving you more flexibility for bigger and greater scenes. Using the Cycles volumetrics that come with Blender will not allow useful live previews and can also have worse end results.

Due to the possibility of such malfuctions happening, having these volumetrics can be a lifesaver.

Instead of fully populating a scene, corridor or window, you can just use the power of shadows to create the mysterious blend that would clip areas off that are not in focus, or the focus of the animatio nor poster, with a cube that can take on many shapes for any custom scene.

Practically this is to be used for hiding unwanted areas that are not the focus of the shot, like the example below with the 'Cube on' where the darkness creates the illusion of a long and endless corridor, or a huge and bottomless pit of deadly heat.

This cube can have any shape and any color, which makes it the perfect fit for any environment you'd like to put it into.

Smoke can also follow a path, whether a cigarette, car exhaust or a fire, while having full control over emission intervals and sizes. It can also be made to react to objects, changing its direction and shape.

You can turn it into steam particles, fog, smoke, mist, whatever comes and goes. Best part is that it can be made to react to other objects! It's pretty cheap on the system resources just like all the other assets in this pack. The smoke particle effects (including the dynamic ones) work best with Eevee, as the effects differ on Cycles.
