What happens to existing skinning on the mesh?

Existing Armature modifiers are replaced by the new one this creates.

What if the armature has changed?

The tool saves and loads weights based on bone names. As long as the bone names haven't changed, this will work.

I cannot load weights

Make sure you select your armature then shift select your mesh
