So, I tried out the test scene to get an overview of the performance.
I searched countless places for information about performance and stability on the MAC (Silicon).
To maybe help people with their decision here is a short overview - But first: The addon itself is fantastic and absolutely recommended for people who want realistic light and clouds - so my opinion only reflects my personal feeling!
    --------
System: MAC M2 Studio 64GB RAM
    Rendering: GPU
    Test scene - GPU
    Render samples: 128
    Lightpaths as specified in scene
    Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Render time without Haze: 8min 32sec
Render time with Haze: 16min 28sec
    --------
It would still work for images - but I don't dare to think about animations. As I said - it's just an info for MAC users who have already searched (and since you can also test it yourself, this shouldn't influence your purchase).
It's still a fantastic addon - unfortunately not suitable for my use (professionally and where time is important) (although I would have liked to use it....) On an M3 (with raytracing) it could be different!

Sometimes results are very nice, but it might be a bit invasive. Messes with your exposure/render settings if you are not careful. Also my clouds disappeared, and discord support was no help.

This is a must have!!! So much control over the sky, clouds and fog and so simple to use. Even if you are not creating outdoor scenes. This add-on is incredible for casting light through windows for your indoor scenes. When you start this add-on it will adjust your cycle settings to give a nice balance between speed and quality. This too is fully adjustable.

Thanks for the awesome add-on!!! :)

Thank you. I no longer use HDRIs anymore. This addon gives me great skies that I can adjust to fit any scene I can think of.

Been using this add-on for about a year and it saved me a ton of time. It took some time to get fully used to it, especially with the clouds (sometimes doesn´t do the things I expect). But all in all it´s a great add-on with a lot of customizability :D

Never got T-Sky to install properly and work on my Mac. Went back and forth on Discord, but never resolved mis-installed files, corrupted files/thumbnails, ui not right, etc. A local user's install should somehow be verified by running another tool to help debugging. Perhaps publish a map of directories as verification? Maybe it's me or my lack of GPU, but "me" is an unhappy paid user, atm. I'll gladly update this rating once I get it working, but today I'm tired.
    * Their true-terrain flagship product is a different matter and works fine, tho.

I also have other addon's from this developer. The addons from True-VFX all work very reliably and are extensive in their functions. But I would also like to highlight the good documentation and tutorials for smooth operation, as well as the ongoing updates of versions. Especially the latter ensures planning reliability and sustainability. I hope it stays that way.

Neither 2.1 Beta nor 2.04 work with Blender 3.4.1. I get error messages like

    Dependency cycle detected:
    NTtvfx_true-sky/NTREE_OUTPUT() depends on
NTtvfx_true-sky/DRIVER(nodes["True-Binary"].dust_density) via 'Drivers -> NTree Output'
NTShader Nodetree/NTREE_OUTPUT() via 'RNA Target -> Driver'
    NTtvfx_true-sky/NTREE_OUTPUT() via 'Group Node'

    or

    Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.4\scripts\addons\True-Sky\scripts\ui\main.py", line 104, in draw
    box.prop(obj, "location", index=2, text="Cloud Altitude")
TypeError: UILayout.prop(): error with argument 1, "data" - Function.data does not support a 'None' assignment AnyType type

I was never able to create any of the described effects. The addon is unusable.

      Hi Hans,

Ideally it's best to contact us for support for something like this before leaving a poor rating. This is a really simple fix!

The Dependency Cycle messages are not errors. This is just the Blender printing out a message about the dependencies that we add to the shaders (If this is enabled, then show these options etc). This it normal and supposed to happen.

The actual error just means you have managed to delete the clouds from the outliner. Toggling "enable clouds" off and then on fixes this.

You can get in touch with us on Discord at https://discord.gg/true-vfx or send us a message on Blender Market

The results can be great, I was able to enhance my renders with True-Sky almost immediately after starting using it. The promo images are very convincing and I hope to get there and render images like those. However when it comes to controls and setting up a particular scene you have in mind, this addon is very-very far from perfect, also very far from what it promises. I do not feel in control at all, in fact I feel completely lost about what each slider does (clouds & fog), even after weeks, they never seem to do what you'd expect. I contacted support and was told the settings are not designed to give full control, only to tweak presets. Honestly that was a shock to me, not what I expected. Instead of being in control I end up having to settle for a workflow where you pick a preset, randomly push some sliders like a random seed generator and hope to get something close to what you wanted, hopefully before you get too frustrated with the terrible user experience... Fine-tuning is often impossible, once I get something close to what I wanted and wish to only fine-tune it, the sliders would either change nothing or completely upset everything, no matter how carefully I change. I haven't given up and hope to get more experienced and efficient in using True-Sky but I certainly also hope that the controls and user experience will be improved in the future.
