Procedural Planet Shader

by Will Henderson in Surfacing

Picture this: you're making a space/sci-fi-themed shot, and you have every detail perfected: your spaceship is greebled to the max, the shot framing is flawless; but something is missing-- an alien planet in the background. You have the object in your scene, but texturing the blank, white spherical (or maybe not-so-spherical) object seems like a task so daunting that even your mother's brother's dog's sister's owner's aunt who is a VFX artist at a top-notch studio wouldn't dare undertake it.

Fear not! The Procedural Planet Shader is here.

The Procedural Planet Shader is an easy-to-use and fast-acting addition to your Blender workflow. It automatically and procedurally creates a planet texture on any given object for you, effectively cutting down on the time it takes to texture the object yourself.
