Portal Node Tool

by ath0rus in Surfacing

Node Setup
  1. The locationof the portal (you may need to offset the axis the portal is facing by about 0.001 if you have clipping issues)
  2. The scale of the portal. While it is capped at 0 you can go negative, but this causes issues.
  3. You need to create a driver for the X, Y, Z rotation of the portal object.

To setup the drivers

1. Right click the X rotation value (1) in the Npanel then click “Copy as New Driver” (2)

2. Right Click the X Portal Object Rotation value (3) then click “Paste Driver”.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the Y and Z values.

Due to limitations in Blender’s Shader editor, I have not yet found another way to get the objects rotation data in the shader editor itself without use of Geo Nodes or Drivers (Geo node version coming soon)
