PIC to 3D Mesh Blender Add-on Documentation
Overview
PIC to 3D Mesh is a Blender add-on that facilitates the generation of 3D meshes from images or pictures directly within Blender. This add-on leverages the capabilities of the https://www.csm.ai/ service to convert images into 3D meshes.
Installation
- Download the "PIC_to_3D_Mesh.zip" file containing the add-on.
- Launch Blender.
- Go to
Edit
>Preferences
. - Click on the
Add-ons
tab. - Click the
Install...
button and navigate to the location of the downloaded zip file. - Select the zip file and click
Install Add-on
. - Enable the add-on by ticking the checkbox next to "PIC to 3D Mesh" in the add-ons list.
- Click
Save Preferences
to confirm the installation.
Usage
1. Setting Up API Key and Image URL
Before using the add-on, you need to set up your API key and provide the URL of the image you want to convert into a 3D mesh.
- Go to
Edit
>Preferences
. - Navigate to the
Add-ons
tab. - Locate "PIC to 3D Mesh" in the add-ons list and expand it.
- Enter your API key in the "API Key" field. If you don't have an API key, you can obtain one by going to www.csm.ai ,creating a account and generating a API key from your account profile page.
- Provide the URL of the image you want to convert in the "Image URL" field.
- Click
Save Preferences
to save your settings.
2. Generating a Session
To generate a new session for 3D mesh generation:
- Ensure that you have set up your API key and image URL as described in the previous section.
- Open the
PIC to 3DMesh Panel
in the Blender interface. - Click on the
Create Session
button. - Wait for the session creation process to complete. Upon successful creation, you will receive a session code.
3. Generating a 3D Mesh
Once you have generated a session, you can proceed to generate the 3D mesh from the selected image.
- Ensure that you have a valid session code generated from the previous step.
- Click on the
Generate Mesh
button in thePIC to 3DMesh Panel
. - The add-on will initiate the mesh generation process. Depending on the complexity of the image, this process may take some time.
- Once the mesh generation is successful, you will receive a notification.
4. Refining the Mesh (Optional)
After generating the initial mesh, you have the option to refine it for better quality.
- Click on the
Refine Mesh
button in thePIC to 3DMesh Panel
. - The add-on will start refining the mesh. This process may also take some time.
- Upon successful refinement, you will receive a notification.
5. Importing the 3D Mesh
Once the mesh is generated and optionally refined, you can import it into Blender for further editing and manipulation.
- Click on the
Import Mesh
button in thePIC to 3DMesh Panel
. - The add-on will download the generated mesh in GLB format and import it into Blender.
- You can now work with the imported mesh in the Blender workspace.
6. Loading an Existing Session
If you have previously generated sessions and want to load them again:
- Ensure that you have your API key set up.
- Enter the session code in the "Session Code" field in the
PIC to 3DMesh Panel
. - Click on the
Load Session
button. - The add-on will fetch the session information associated with the provided session code and load it into Blender.
Additional Notes
- If you encounter any errors or issues during the process, refer to the error messages displayed in the Blender interface for troubleshooting.
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection throughout the process, as the add-on relies on external API calls for mesh generation.
- For best results, use high-quality images with clear details and sufficient contrast.
