WHAT IS NPR COMIC FORGE?
The result of years of research and testing, this is a powerful and complete package, containing 49 shaders and several filters to transform your 3D scenes into beautiful images or animations in the style of manga, comics, anime or even painting, using Blender EEVEE.
TYPES OF SHADER
One of the newest additions to NPR COMIC FORGE, the Miura hatch shader class adds an impressive 23 new tunable materials that create lush results with multiple types of hatch customization and lighting behavior.
These are shaders specialized in coloring and shading production with support for customizable color ramps. Some shaders have shading layers that can be controlled individually, regardless of the strength of the lamps and ambient lighting. Specific shaders in this group also support specular NPR.
HARD STROKE SHADERS
HARD STROKE shaders contain materials with solid shading, with less focus on hatching and without any light color gradients in their internal composition, generating completely black and white color images. You can combine them with LEGACY or MIURA shaders to create unique shading variations.
The first generation of NPR COMIC FORGE hatch shaders also received an update, allowing support for controlling the level of shading by color and brightness. It has several hatch customization options, in addition to the new transparency feature.
In addition to all the variety of materials available, you can merge materials for new variations, connecting the output of one to the input of the other and seeing the result in real time. You can for example define the internal color gradient with a THAVMA material and put it in a HARD STROKE to use heavy and constant shading.
A post-processing filter that distorts the render according to the configuration parameters passed. The results vary depending on your usage needs, serving to emulate everything from a slight distortion in the image, giving the impression of handmade lines, to the simulation of underwater scenarios.
Simple and easy to use, with just one configuration parameter, this post-production filter generates pixelated images, according to the strength determined by the user. You can use this filter to create stylized animations or even sprites for games.
NOISE IN SHADER
It is subdivided into three types, which, unlike the noise available in the VENTURA POST PROCESSING filter, are applied directly to the material instead of the entire render. This way you can only apply it to the desired locations. It also has a completely customizable version so you can produce the noise effect however you want.
It uses a base color or texture and applies a lightening and darkening effect, through layers of coloring, according to the chosen parameters. Each of the recolor layers can be configured individually.
This filter adds fill hatches in a shader, on a layer above the inner coloring, if you want to add any imperfections, so the result doesn't look “too clean”. These hatches can be configured in different ways, depending on your needs.
VENTURA POST PROCESSING
It brings together a collection of several commonly used adjustment features to adapt NPR renders as needed, highlighting the integrated noise filter that can be applied to the entire scene at once and simplified background replacement.
