Thank you so much for your feedback. I tried to make the wood even better - but it had a big impact on performance and I gave up on that idea :)

I tried very hard to make the tree as realistic as possible. Thank you!

Very nice rendering, but you need a very powerful machine to use this shader. Does not work on my HP EliteBook Workstation (i7) and very very slow on Alienware 17 R4.
I'm looking forward to a lighter version.

Hello! Thanks for your feedback. A lighter version in assembly with modules very soon.

I have a Ryzen 16c, RTX 2070, 32 GB RAM. With only the sphere and the shader in the scene the Eevee viewport is laggy as hell, the cycles viewport is only a bit better, but still annoying. I did read the creators note regarding the performance issues, but I didn't expect the performance to be this bad. I was looking forward to play around with the shader, but for me it is unusable. I will get optimized...

Dude, i tried to render with my GPU (1060) and every its cool. Felix - you a wrong, everything is good with this shader

The shader is generally well done. You have an enormous number of setting options and it works without any additional addons or plug-ins. The big problem is the performance.
The shader is not well optimized from my point of view. And my system is not bad (65GB RAM, 8GB V-RAM, 12-CORE CPU). It takes 5 - 10 seconds each time until you can see the result in the Viewport Shading. And that with a default cube with an area light. Only when you switch on a denoiser and make other settings does it work a little better - but not well. For larger projects with several wooden objects, the shader for the hardware is too stressful.

Hey! Sorry if the shader didn't live up to your expectations. I am aware of performance issues when using generated damage. This shader is more for baking. You need to overlay it on the object you want to make wood and then bake the texture for best performance. Performance problems because I tried to make this tree as realistic as possible, down to the grain of the tree, and tapering the rings further from the center. Please note that the tree is completely procedural, it does not use image textures, it is all built on mathematics, and at the same time remains quite realistic.
I use the renderer on NVIDIA RTX 2080, I rendered a video of 400 frames in 1200 x 800 resolution, 128 samples of optix denoising in about 2 hours.

Sorry again if the shader didn't live up to your expectations.
