Colorful Modeling
What is this add-on about?
This is an add-on for making the model creation part colorful while in solid view. Also helps in setting up visual cues to parts of the models before moving on to material assignments.
How to install it?
Like any other add-ons, download the add-on as a zip file, in the Blender Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install...
Note: If you face installation issues as Blender is moving to a new extension package model, try different extension packages given, if you still have issues then a workaround instruction has been given in the file Install Issues Resolution.pdf to manually install legacy add-on with new blender versions.
How to use it?
This add-on sets up a tab in the n-panel (press n key in 3D View). Open by clicking Colorful tab in the n-panel. Make sure you are in SOLID view.
- The panel has a Color Picker.
- Select your object and pick your choice of Color in the picker. The selected color will be applied to the object in solid view.
- Below the SOLID view you have the shortcuts to easilt create standard primitive objects with the selected color.
- You also have an info text what is the current active object where the color will be applied.
- You can also select multiple objects and pick a color, which in turn applies the selected color to all selected objects.
- When you move to Wireframe, Material Preview or Render Preview mode, this addon will display a warning in Red and Color Picker will not be shown as these colors are not applicable for Material View & Renders. It also shows a handy button to switch back to SOLID view.
