What makes Blaze Animate different from regular bone selection?
Blaze Animate allows direct viewport interaction with controller bones, with smart selection and visual feedback. No need to search through bone hierarchies or precise clicking.
Does it work with any rig?
Yes, Blaze Animate works with any rig that uses bone collections. It's especially useful for complex rigs with many controllers.
Will it affect my existing animations?
No, Blaze Animate only changes how you select and manipulate bones. It doesn't modify any animation data.
What is Isolation Mode?
Isolation Mode lets you focus on specific bone collections by hiding all others. Perfect for working on specific parts of your rig.
Why can't I select some collections?
Collections might be:
- Part of a hierarchy where the parent is not selected
- Hidden in isolation mode
- Not properly synchronized (try the refresh button)
How do I quickly switch between collections?
In isolation mode, the first 9 isolated collections get number shortcuts (1-9). You can also use the filter to quickly find collections by name.
How does the smart selection work in crowded areas?
The addon uses density detection to automatically adjust selection precision in areas with many controllers. You can fine-tune this in the Density Settings.
What's the difference between freezing and locking bones?
- Freezing (F key) prevents specific bones from being selected or modified
- Locking (Shift+Q) keeps your current selection active, preventing accidental deselection
How does transform history work?
The Y key cycles through your recently transformed bones, making it easy to quickly switch between commonly used controllers.
How do transforms work with constrained bones?
The addon is smart about constraints:
- It automatically detects if a bone has movement constraints
- For constrained bones, clicking defaults to Rotation instead of Move
- You can override this behavior using the transform method pie menu (Shift+Ctrl)
- Your preferred transform method is remembered for each bone
What do the different highlight colors mean?
- White: Currently selected or hovered bone
- Blue: Part of multiple selection
- Yellow: Locked selection
- Red: Nearby available controllers
- Gray: Frozen (unselectable) bones
Can I customize the visual feedback?
Yes, you can adjust:
- Hover and proximity opacity
- Highlight width
- Pin Controllers On Top (always show highlights above other objects)
- Selection range and density settings
What does "Pin Controllers On Top" do?
When enabled, controller highlights will always be visible on top of other objects in the viewport, even when the controllers are behind something. This makes it easier to find and select controllers in complex scenes.
What if the viewport becomes sluggish?
Try:
- Reducing hover range
- Adjusting density settings
- Enabling Pin Controllers On Top
- Only select the bone collections that you need to manipulate
How do I quickly disable the addon?
You can either:
- Press ESC or Ctrl+Alt+B to immediately disable the addon
- Click the "Disable Blaze Animate" button in the sidebar
Can I save my preferred settings?
