Overview
The Red Wolves Batch Material Maker is a Blender add-on designed to streamline the creation and organization of materials from texture sets. It automates the process of generating materials and arranging them in a structured grid layout. This add-on is perfect for 3D artists looking to save time and maintain consistency in their projects.
Installation
Download the Add-on:

Ensure you have the add-on zip file batch_material_maker.zip.
Install in Blender:
- Open Blender
- Go to Edit > Preferences
- Select the Add-ons tab
- Click Install....
- Select the batch_material_maker.zip file
- Click Install Add-on
- Enable the add-on by checking the box next to "Red Wolves Batch Material Maker"
How to Use
Accessing the Add-on
- Open the 3D Viewport
- Press N to open the sidebar
- Navigate to the "Batch Material Maker" tab
Options and Controls
New Material Options:
- Material Prefix: Set a prefix for the material names
- Replace from name: Specify the string to be replaced in the material names
- "with" box: Specify the string to replace with in the material names
- Normal Strength: Set the strength for Normal maps (0 to 1).
- Displacement Strength: Set the strength for Displacement maps (0 to 1).
- Choose Texture Sets Path: set the folder path where your texture sets are located.
Texture Suffixes:
- Define suffixes for each type of texture. Multiple suffixes can be separated by commas.
- Base Color Suffix
- Roughness Suffix
- Glossiness Suffix
- Metallic Suffix
- Normal Map Suffix - for normal maps. Plugin automatically adds Normal Map node
- Height Suffix - for height / displacement maps, plugin automatically adds Displacement Map node.
- ORM Suffix - suffix for packed occlussion / roughness / metallic maps. Add-on automatically assigns red channel as ambient occlussion ad mixes it with basecolor map, green channel goes to roughness slot and blue channel is connected with metallic slot.

- Emission Suffix
Preset Management:
- Preset Name: Enter the name of the preset to save or load
- Select Preset: Dropdown menu to select an existing preset
- Save Preset: Save the current settings as a preset
- Load Preset: Load the selected preset
- Delete Preset: Delete the selected preset.
Actions:
- Create Materials: Automatically create materials from the texture sets from specified folder and arrange them in a grid.
- Mark All Scene Materials as Assets: Mark all materials in the scene as assets for easy management.
Workflow
- Set Your Options: Configure the material prefix, name replacements, and texture suffixes. Adjust the normal and displacement map strengths as needed.
- Select Texture Folder: Choose the folder containing your texture sets.
- Create Materials: Click "Create Materials" to generate materials and arrange spheres in a grid layout.
- Manage Presets: Save your current configuration as a preset for future use. Load or delete presets as needed.
- Mark Assets: Use the "Mark All Scene Materials as Assets" button to manage all materials in your scene efficiently.
