How to add the leafs to my scene?
You can simply copy the objects from one file to another my selecting them and press Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste them in your desired scene.
Another method is to append or link them via "file--> append" or "file--> link"
Does it work in Blender 2.8x?
The file has been created in Blender 3.0 which might result in errors if you try to open the file in 2.8. What you can do is open the file in Blender 3.x and copy the objects to your desired blend file.
