The Audiorotator - Spectrum Driven Automated Metaball Instancer And Scaler Setup
A procedural metaball instancer and automated scaler and rotator setup.
In this example, the scale of the rotating metaballs is driven by audio. (It could be adjusted for rotation control too). All metaball properties are implemented (resolution, influence threshold), and can be driven procedurally.
There is two version of the setup- The main one created in Animation Nodes. It is a simple and straightforward setup. You need to have AN installed for the file to work. (Included in the files.) Everything is setup and ready to go. (It is recommended, that you have a basic understanding of AN. The node tree itself is simple and straightforward.
The second version is a pure GeoNodes version of a similar effect. It is not driven by audio, because GN is not ready yet for real time sound processing. (Of course, you could bake the song to f-curves and drive the audio values such by keyframing.) The second problem is instancing metaballs in GeoNodes, which needed a stable workaround, which, unlike the common methods is not prone to disappearing upon nodetree changes, so it can be driven by animation. In the GN version the individual scaling is achieved by Noise texture.
