Easy to use ... Portal projection made easy: Click the add-button and add a portal-projection-set, including a camera and a display object, to your scene, position them and you are ready to go. Choose additional alignments and tracking constraints before for your liking. All, quick and easy, via this addon Portal Projection, placed in the 3D-View->N-Panel. Choose between different projection modes ... Dynamic world, e.g. dimension portals, or static portal projection, e.g. security cameras, etc.
What can Portal Projection do ?
Portal Projection uses Blender's Ray Portal BSDF to project one area of your 3D scene onto an object. This let's you create amazing visual effects, like portals, dimensions, mirrors, doors, windows, abstract effects and many more using this addon.
Adjustable ... Use advanced technics to change the included material of the display object for your needs, e.g. combine shaders with a noise texture to break up the projection and create awesome projection looks.
Ray Portal BSDF ... With Portal Projection using Blender's Ray Portal BSDF is a child's play, you don't have to deal with it. You can create stunning and amazing realistic and also abstract portals between dimensions, between different scenes, multiple views of the same location, and many more you can think of with a few clicks and positioning.
6 Predefined and modelled presets, do demonstrate how to use Portal Projection, the camera, the display, etc. in several ways:
Presets/Examples, which comes with this addon Portal Projection:
- "Stone wall" with white noised lookthrough spots, show two monkeys.
- The "Dimension Cube" (Dimension Cube on YoutTube Shorts), the whole cube is a dimension of it's own.
- A "Dimension Triangle" (Dimension Triangle on YouTube Shorts), every side shows a different dimension.
- A simple "Framed Door".
- The Demo-Monkeys, looing at each other from different angles.
- A Dr. Strange-like particle spreading opening and closing ring (animated)
7 Predefined and set up materials, do demonstrate how to use the Portal Projection Material Shader, to create unique and stunning materials, looks and visual effects:
Materials, which comes this addon Portal Projection:
- "Behind The Wall", shows a bricked wall, and some spots using the projection
- "Blurry Ghost", shows the pojection and a little bit of what's behind the projection display
- "Clean", just the raw and clean projection
- "Electricity", actually the "Clean"-material, but with a blue electricity-overlay (animated)
- "Foggy", the projection is blurred out using a Noise texture (animated)
- "Framed", using ambient occlusion for defining the edges of the display-object
- "Psychedelic", actually a Noise texture, but without putting it through nodes, giving a lot of colors and a pyschedelic look
How to use ?
The addon let's you add, with one click, a camera object, which you can position in your 3D world like a normal camera object, and a projection/display object, which then displays the 3D enviroment the portal camera is pointing to. This let's you look through, e.g. a plane, to a different location in a different angle in your 3D enviroment.

What about updates and new releases with new features ?
All bug fixes, improvements new features and future releases will always be free for existing users. When updating to a newer version, you have to remove the current addon-version from Blender and re-install the new .ZIP-file. Also you might have to restart Blender.

What the ZIP-files contains
* Use as addon:
The ZIP-file is designed as an addon itself. That means, download the ZIP-file to your prefered location and install/import it as an addon in Blender.
* Append from file:
If you don't want to use Portal Projection as an addon you can also use the file "portal_projecton/assets/portal_projection.blend" and append (3D View -> Append / F4) from it what you need, geometry nodes modifiers, materials, models, presets, etc.
